Department of Election and the District Returning officers stated that Uva Provincial council election which began at 7 this morning has been conducted peacefully thus far.
During the first few hours of the election, a considerable number of voters have visited the polling booths to cast their votes.
District Secretary Rohana Keerthi Dissanayake told our news team that Badulla District election is being conducted peacefully as of 12 noon, where more than 30 percent of voters have cast their votes.
According to District Secretary A. Pathi-naadan, the election of Moneragala District is also conducted in a peaceful manner where about 40 percent of voters have cast their votes thus far.
The Department of election states that overall the election is being conducted peacefully so far and that the voters have shown keen interest in casting their votes.
